In Greene County district court Thomas Lee Caldwell, 47, of Woodward was sentenced Oct. 18 to 15 years in prison on a charge of possession of a controlled- third or subsequent offense, subsequent offender. He had been found guilty of the crime at a jury trial Aug. 28. Caldwell’s prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for three years. No judgment was entered for a fine or surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $1,000 and $771.50 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Andrew Lee Jensen, 41, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 23 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and he is to be given credit for time served in a Webster County case. He was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Jensen was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s feed and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jose Otoniel Ragalado Dubon, 42, of Humboldt, harassment- first degree, indecent contact with child, sex abuse- third degree, lascivious acts with child- fondle/touch, and burglary- first degree; and Dale Lee Spaulding, 55, of Glidden, possession of controlled substance- third or subsequent offense. Regalado Dubon’s trial date was set for Dec. 12. Spaulding’s trial date was set for Jan. 30, 2024.
